Online Child Abuse

What is online child abuse?

Online child abuse includes:

  1. making and downloading images of children being sexually abused; and

  2. approaching a child online for sex. This could be sex online (e.g. sexual activity via text or webcam) or sex offline (e.g. grooming a child online for the purpose of meeting up for sex in the "real" world).

How Will FamilyCPU Help Parents?

FamilyCPU will help parents protect their family and computers in two ways:

First and foremost, FamilyCPU was established to offer free information concerning safe family computing. FamilyCPU will always provide independent and critical analysis of safe computing software and online services. FamilyCPU is not a service established to put other safe computing entities out of business or take attention away from them. On the contrary, FamilyCPU was established with the hopes of shedding light on existing services and solutions and to help connect parents everywhere with those services and solutions. I hope you come to think of FamilyCPU as a beacon for safe family computing.

FamilyCPU will also offer low cost paid services as a last resort for parents who truly don't have time to monitor their family computer. Why do I write "last resort?" The most effective way to safeguard your family and family assets is through personal involvement not through a third party solution like my paid services. My "last resort" solution however is better than no solution at all.

Please take a moment to safeguard your family today.

What is FamilyCPU?

Computers have become the core of a family's entertainment, learning, and productivity much like a computer's CPU is the core of it's productivity.

Combine the increased number of home computers with the growing number of online crimes and you have the potential for disaster - to your family or your family's assets.

FamilyCPU is a service of Gene Huller's Computer Support http://genehuller.com/ that's offered to help keep your family safe from online criminals - from hackers hoping to exploit your computer's vulnerabilities to online predators who may be a click away from a face to face encounter with your child.

The aim of FamilyCPU is to provide families with the means to use the computer safely and worry free. The computer is and always should be a tool for your family, not a way for others to harm your family.

Keep checking back to see how this service evolves from week to week. And please feel free to comment on the service or make suggestions for improvement.

Thanks!

Sincerely,
Gene Huller
